RM of Grandview’s story
The Rural Municipality of Grandview No. 349 was incorporated on December 11, 1911, making it one of the province's early rural municipalities. It lies in west-central Saskatchewan, and its office is in Kelfield.
Several small communities grew up within its boundaries. Ruthilda remains a village in the RM, while Handel and Kelfield were once villages too. Kelfield was dissolved as a village, and Handel followed on January 1, 2007. Both are now unincorporated localities.
Today the RM is governed by an elected council and an appointed administrator. Highways 51, 657 and 659 run through the area. Nearby attractions include the Biggar Museum, the Dodsland & District Museum, the Plenty & District Museum and the Opuntia Lake National Migratory Bird Sanctuary.
